The winter weather policy for boys basketball is listed below:
Safety is the first and foremost determining factor when deciding whether practices or games should be cancelled or delayed. The MYA Basketball Board makes final decisions in coordination with school facility staff.
If schools close their buildings or cancel all evening activities, all associated practices and games are automatically cancelled.
Other considerations include evaluations from the basketball board, grade commissioners, and coaches regarding whether travel may be unsafe before, during, or after events.
Caution: Notifications of cancellation may occur at the last minute. We understand this can be frustrating, but we make every effort to hold practices and games whenever it is safe to do so. If conditions worsen unexpectedly, safety will always take priority over scheduling.
How will I be notified?
Closure and cancellation notifications will be communicated in the following order:
- Grade commissioner notifies coaches
- Coaches communicate using their preferred team communication channel
- Social media updates:
- League-wide email notification sent to all registered families
