For players in grades 3rd - 8th, several basketball programs are available. Participants have the opportunity to try out for their school’s travel team, join the competitive Mudsock Elite team, or sign up for the Recreation league. Detailed descriptions of each program are provided below.
Travel
- Grades: 3rd-6th
- Tryouts: Early September
- Practice: 1-2 times per week
- Season Length: October - early March
- Gameplay: Games will typically be on Saturday and Sundays in central Indiana; typically 40 games or more per year
- Cost: $400* - ($38 of this is due during registration to tryout)
Details: The Fishers and HSE schools offer dedicated travel basketball programs that are both supported by and contribute to the high school basketball teams. Tryouts are scheduled for early September each year. Team formation is carefully managed by the coaches in conjunction with the Mudsock Boys Basketball Travel Committee. The number of teams created each season depends on the skill levels of the players and the availability of qualified coaches. This program is designed to develop young athletes in alignment with the high standards of our community high schools. Players are expected to make the travel program a priority (except 6th grade school basketball).
Elite
- Grades 3rd-7th/8th
- Tryouts: Mid-to-late September
- Practice - 1-2 times per week
- Season Length: October - early March
- Gameplay: A game on Saturday and Sunday typically locally; typically 30 games per year

Details: The Mudsock Youth Boys Basketball League offers a competitive AAU basketball experience for young athletes seeking a higher level of play. Evaluations for team placement occur in mid-September, following the travel tryouts. The selection process is overseen by the Mudsock Boys Basketball Elite Committee, which forms teams based on each player's demonstrated skills, effort, and overall attitude. This structure ensures that all participants are placed in an environment that matches their competitive readiness and fosters their growth in the sport. Players are not allowed to play in more than one AAU league/team.
Recreation
- Grades: K-1st (no evals or draft); 2nd-7th/8th - evaluations + drafts
- Evaluations: October

- Gameplay: One game each Saturday at a local gym; typically 13 games per year

This league is designed for young athletes in grades 2nd through 7th/8th. Evaluations are conducted to assess each player's skill level, followed by a draft led by the coaches who volunteer for the season. The drafting process ensures that teams are balanced and competitive. Practices begin shortly after the draft, allowing players to immediately apply their skills and enjoy the game of basketball in a supportive and developmental environment.
